Multi-jurisdictional inheritance disputes have been increasing in number in recent years, as more people have assets in more than one jurisdiction. It is estimated that 1 in 10 inheritance dispute cases commenced in the EU at present has an international element. In this article, published in November’s edition of Private Client Adviser, Rachel Jones, an associate in Druces LLP’s Contentious Probate team, examines how the Brussels IV regulation may assist untangling the web of multi-jurisdictional inheritance laws.
