27 January 2016 – Business and private wealth law firm Druces LLP has hired David Wright from the London office of premier Canadian law firm, Gowlings.  David will act as consultant to Druces on a broad range of restructuring, insolvency and fraud matters but will have a particular focus on developing the firm’s multi-jurisdictional work, especially in the US and Europe.

Prior to Gowlings, David was co-head of Insolvency and Restructuring at another City law firm and brings to Druces over two decades of experience as a restructuring and insolvency specialist. He is highly regarded for his work on both contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency matters and counts as clients a number of large banks, US law firms, multinational corporations and institutional investor clients. David will continue to practise at his specialist firm, dawLaw.

David’s specific experience includes advising on cross border ponzi schemes, asset tracing and concert party money laundering scams, often as agent working with overseas law firms instructed by foreign governments.

Commenting on David’s arrival, Toby Stroh, Head of Corporate and Commercial at Druces, said:

“David’s hire is a significant move for a highly regarded specialist in the restructuring and insolvency market.  His arrival and experience of working with clients of the highest calibre, very often with an international flavour, will really add to the talent pool that our clients have at their disposal and strengthen Druces’ finance and insolvency litigation practice.”

Managing Partner, Jeremy Dutton, comments:

“David’s appointment is another strategic lateral hire that demonstrates the firm’s commitment to deepening the level of expertise available to clients in all of the firm’s core areas.  With one partner hire already announced earlier this month and two more set to be announced in the coming weeks, Druces is making a strong start to 2016.”

David Wright further comments:

“I am very pleased to have joined Druces and am looking forward in particular to enhancing its international fraud and contentious insolvency offerings through Druces’ established client base of international banks and financial institutions.”
