Druces was delighted to welcome a delegation of 14 senior Dispute Resolution lawyers from Wuxi in China to its London office recently to learn about the inner workings of an international arbitration team in a City law firm.

In partnership with The University of Law, members of Druces’ Dispute Resolution Team (comprising Partner, Charles Spragge, and Senior Associates, Victoria Novikova and Rachel Brown) hosted a roundtable on the key issues facing clients in international arbitrations.

The roundtable was well received by our Chinese visitors, and there followed a lively and wide-ranging debate on a broad range of topics from technical issues, the status of infra-EU bilateral investment treaties and recovery of costs, to the practicalities of private law firm management.

The delegation was treated to a traditional English afternoon tea with cakes following the roundtable presentations. The Wuxi Lawyers’ Association was attending a dedicated two-week long course at the University of Law to learn about the English arbitration system.

It was a great pleasure to welcome these lawyers to our office and to exchange views and share experiences.

About Druces’ Dispute Resolution Team: Druces’ lawyers have experience of handling arbitrations under the full range of rules including LCIA, ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, GAFTA (and other trade associations) and CIArb as well as under the Arbitration Act 1996 and bilateral investment treaties.
