Our dedicated team of French law specialists support clients with a range of tax, property and legal services. By choosing us, our clients benefit from a seamless, partner-led service aimed at taking care of both French and UK affairs in one place.
The team has extensive knowledge in both UK and French tax, meaning we are able to provide a joined-up tax compliance and planning service, with particular focus on the UK/France Double Tax Treaties. We are also able to advise on the Tax Information Exchange Agreements (TIEAs) between France and the anglophone offshore jurisdictions, such as the Channel Islands.
Our team is also able to help clients looking for Monegasque and Swiss tax services as well as having existing relationships with professional advisors in other French speaking jurisdictions including Belgium and Luxembourg. Through a combination of our own expertise and our strong network of advisors, we are able to give clients access to a truly international tax service.
We can advise on all aspects of French and English private client law, these include services such as inheritance tax planning, lifetime gifts and wills, all aimed at ensuring that your wealth is passed on to your heirs in a tax efficient way. We are also experts in the “forced heirship” rules which apply across the French-speaking world: these rules often limit an individual’s freedom to deal with their wealth as they see fit.
If you are getting married, we can assist in producing a ‘contrat de mariage’ or pre and post nuptial agreements, providing peace of mind as part of your preparation for marriage.
For clients who are buying or selling French property we provide an expert service designed to make that process as smooth as possible for you. We ensure that you fully understand each stage of the transaction and are kept fully informed of progress.
Our minimum fee for French standard residential transactions is £3,500. This minimum fee is applicable in purchases or sales up to and including €700,000. For purchases or sales between €700,000 and €2,000,000 our fee is approximately 0.5% of the purchase price. For these purchases and for higher value transactions, please contact us for a fee estimate. The fee excludes disbursements and is subject to our standard terms and conditions. Our fees are outside the scope of UK VAT so there will be no VAT to pay on them.
We charge additional fees where there are additional complexities or time to be spent on your transaction, examples include:
For non-standard transactions such as development work and those with a commercial element we will provide a written estimate on request once we have full details. Advice on tax aspects is dealt with by a French tax specialist and is at an additional cost.
We do not routinely visit the properties being sold or purchased, although we can do so at additional cost. We cannot be held responsible for any matters which would have been identifiable had we inspected the property where we have not been instructed to visit the property prior to completion.
Notre cabinet peut assister des clients francophones dans tous les domaines d’intervention du cabinet, et particulièrement en matière de fiscalité, gestion patrimoniale, succession, ainsi que pour les testaments concernant l’Angleterre ou des biens anglais.
