Laughlan Steer

Senior Associate

Construction

Laughlan is a Senior Associate and construction specialist. Prior to qualification he spent time working for a rail and infrastructure company which gave him valuable industry insight and continues to set him apart from his peers. He acts for contractors and sub-contractors, consultants, developers and property owners both domestic and international. Laughlan is often involved with dispute avoidance as clients benefit from his ability to provide timely, strategic advice prior to the breakdown of trust on projects.

Adjudication is a particular specialism of Laughlan’s, having successfully represented clients on numerous disputes including luxury hotel and golf club renovations, major airport projects, London landmarks, and power plants. Laughlan is also well versed in arbitration and is a member of the Arbitration Club (Law Courts Branch). He holds further memberships at The Society of Construction Law.

Laughlan’s workload is dispute-oriented although a good portion of his time is spent on non-contentious advisory work.  He regularly advises on contract selection, as well as the preparation and review of bespoke amendments. He is an advocate of mediation and has an excellent track record in this form of dispute resolution. Recently Laughlan has advised on several ultra-prime London renovation projects in both contentious and non-contentious capacities.
