Introduction

A number of individuals and businesses have reported difficulties in dealing with oaths, affirmations and statutory declarations following the introduction of the UK government’s measures aimed at reducing the spread of coronavirus. These restrictions make it difficult to meet a solicitor in person.

New measures for statutory declarations

On 6 April 2020 the Insolvency Service published a new Temporary Insolvency Practice Direction which enables statutory declarations to be made by video conference and administered remotely. The Practice Direction will remain in force until 1 October 2020 unless amended or revoked.
