Druces for Business

Construction

We have a strong multi-disciplinary Construction team that provides advice to a wide range of owners, developers, contractors, specialist sub-contractors and consultants across the construction and engineering sector. The team has a deep knowledge of the sector and is experienced in providing advice on all forms of contract and ancillary documentation.

Our client base is diverse, including UK and overseas clients with projects here and abroad. We have also advised on projects as far afield as Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. The team has a wide experience of all forms of contract including the JCT forms, NEC 3 & 4, FIDIC, bespoke forms of contract, development agreements and professional appointments (both standard forms such as the RIBA appointment and bespoke consultant appointments). We are highly experienced in advising on the use of FIDIC forms of contract, as well as the NEC form for international projects.

Types of projects we have supported

Our team can advise on all forms of development and construction work including:

Our experience

We can advise on selecting the correct form of contract, preparing bespoke amendments to that contract in accordance with your particular needs and assisting with contractual completion. This can include managing the collateral warranty process and assignments or novation and the onward sale of developments. The team can also provide due diligence advice when you are purchasing a development or as part of a wider transaction.

For contractor clients (and where employer clients are presented with a contract), we provide a review service focusing on key risks in the contract and ways to protect your position. These are provided on a fixed price basis and can usually be turned around within 48 hours.

For our international clients we work in conjunction with a select group of law firms to provide advice on local law and regulation and to ensure that your project is contractually watertight irrespective of jurisdiction.

How our construction team can help

The Construction team provides a cradle to grave service in conjunction with members of the Real Estate, Private Wealth, Commercial and Corporate teams. In those unfortunate cases where disputes arise, we provide a comprehensive construction dispute resolution service. We do encourage clients to speak with us early as it is normally easier and more likely to lead to an amicable and more cost-effective resolution. If you receive a notice of adjudication, we offer our clients a fixed price adjudication service.

Please contact a member of the team for more information on the services we provide.
