On the 13th June 2014 these Regulations came into force, redefining and extending consumers’ rights regarding items bought online, or at a distance or away from a trader’s premises. Amongst other things, the Regulations state that traders are obliged to provide certain additional information to consumers. This varies depending upon the nature of the transaction. If the required information is not provided then cancellation rights can be extended by up to a year. Traders should review their consumer terms and conditions and practices to ensure compliance with the Regulations.

If you are at all concerned about the impact that the Regulations may have upon your business, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Corporate and Commercial Team.
